Picked up a new book for reading on the train the other day: The Words of Nobuyoshi Araki
It’s small book comprised of 174 pages of quotes from Araki, placed in somewhat chronological order with each section prefaced by a short essay for context by the author of the book, Hiroyasu Yamauchi. While mostly text (and only in Japanese), the book also features some photographs as well. It’s 1/2 of a two-book set, with the companion to it (with a black/silver cover) being a collection of text and thoughts by (surprise!) Daido Moriyama.
Araki’s legendary command/use of the Japanese language comes across best in his native tounge, but I’d like to think that these books translated into English would do well abroad.
You should just translate the quotes and sell them to the English speaking world ;) or start a new tumblr with a quote a day…
